Statement of Faith in Christ
Who We Are | A Word from the Pastor | Prayer of Salvation
Our doctrinal position is that of conservative, evangelical Christianity, the historic Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we accept, preach and teach the great doctrines of the Protestant Christian faith. Our Statement of Faith is a s follows:
1. We believe that the bible, consisting of both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, It is fully authoritative, infallible and supreme rule of both faith and practice. The purpose of Scripture is to lead people to Jesus Christ. We affirm the verbal inspiration of Scripture (with inerrancy as one of its results ~ Scripture free of errors).
We also affirm the complete usefulness of Scripture in the life of the believer. [II Tim 3:14-17; John 20:30-31]
2. We believe in one God, revealed as eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. [Luke 3:22; Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14]
3. We believe in the deity of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is true God and true man. He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and is the mediator between a Holy God and a sinful race. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, died on a Roman cross for our sins and in our place. Jesus was raised bodily from the dead by God the Holy Spirit. Jesus has ascended into heaven, where He now intercedes for those who believe. [John 1:1-3; II Cor. 5:21; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 4:14-16]
4. We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit and in His ministry to reveal and proclaim Jesus Christ.. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of lost and sinful people. It is God the Holy Spirit who indwells believers in Jesus, enabling us to live godly lives. [John 16:7-15; Eph. 5:18; Romans 8:1-17; Acts 1:8]
5. We believe that we, as human beings, were created in the image of God; that we sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God. Salvation is and will be our complete restoration by God's grace and initiative. Salvation is personally received as a gift from God through personal faith in the the Lord Jesus Christ, His death and His resurection. There is only one plan of salvation, and it is focused on what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. [Gen. 1:26-28; Gen. 3; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:12; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:3-7; I Peter 1:18-19]
6. We believe that people are justified by grace through faith, the basis being the death of Jesus Christ in real history. All who receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior are born again by the Holy Spirit, and thereby become children of God. [John 1:12; 3:3-5; Romans 1:16-17; 10:9; II Cor. 5:17-21; Gal. 3:26; I Peter 1:2-3]
