SHCBC Movie Night II - November 14th, 2008

On a brisk November night, there was a buttery smell of popcorn in the air at South Hills Community Baptist Church.

On Friday, November 14th, 2008 at 7:00 PM, South Hills Community Baptist Church held its second "Movie Night".

The feature this evening was Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"".

For the kids, there were several cartoons shown and then the kids headed downstairs for a "Veggietales" Marathon.

The movie stars Donny Osmond in the role of Joseph, son of Jacob who was sold to the Egyptians by his brothers who were jealous of Joseph's close relationship with their father.

SHCBC Movie Night II, November, 14th, 2008
Joseph begins his life in Egypt as a slave and then becomes a helper to Potiphar, who is an assistant to the Pharoah. Joseph is later jailed after being wrongly accused of having an affair with Potiphar's wife. Joseph is eventually let go, as he provides an interpretation of the Pharoah's dreams and tells the Pharoah to begin storing grain for a time when there will be no harvest.

Egypt is saved as a result of Joseph's instructions and the Pharoah puts Joseph in charge of all of the land of Egypt. Joseph's brothers travel to Egypt to obtain food and they do not recognize their brother Joseph who has attained a great position under the Pharoah.

Joseph tells his brothers that he is not angry with them for selling him to the Egyptians and tells them it was God's plan for him to prevent the people from starving.

The movie watchers had their own abundant harvest that evening of of freshly popped popcorn, skittles, starbursts, rasionettes and soda.
